STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Five new “Portland Loos,“ a futuristic style of public toilets, are open across the five boroughs -- including one on Staten Island -- marking the first phase of a new citywide public restroom initiative.
New York Mayor Eric Adams recently announced that five new modular public toilets designed for the city's public environment have been put into use in parks in the city's five boroughs. These public toilets, called "Portland Loos," are expensive, with each costing nearly $1 million, and the total cost of the five toilets being about $5 million, which has attracted widespread public attention.
New restrooms at the marina will be open with free access from early morning to late evening.
