New electric car can be test driven in Bournemouth before it hits showrooms
The event offers one-on-one, bookable test drives of Kia's new compact electric SUV to build interest before its showroom launch and European deliveries next month.
- Hendy Kia Bournemouth will host a 'First Drive Weekend' from Thursday April 16 to Saturday April 18, giving local customers early access to test drive the new Kia EV2 before it reaches showrooms.
- Following the opening of orders last week, Kia expanded its European lineup by launching the EV2 in Spain, the Netherlands, and Ireland, positioning it to compete with Chinese brands like BYD and SAIC.
- The EV2 features 42.2 kWh and 61 kWh battery options delivering up to 453 km of range, with fast-charging enabling recharge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes using a 118 kW DC charger.
- Interested motorists are urged to reserve their one-hour test drive slots online soon at Hendy Kia Bournemouth, as spaces are limited and the EV2 will officially arrive in showrooms later this year.
- American consumers will not see most of these new models, as Kia has indefinitely delayed several US-bound EVs following policy changes under the Trump administration.
