By the time kids reach high school, virtually ALL of them have smartphones. And they spend most of their waking lives on their smartphones. It has made most of them far more narcissistic and self-important than they have any right to be. They all want to be “influencers.” Ask them what they want to be in 30 years, and most of them envision some kind of celebrity status. I don’t blame public schools for this.
