New Car Show Hits Runway

The Runway Classic, presented by Honda, will be held Saturday, August 29, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Greensburg Municipal Airport. The inaugural event from Genesis: Pathways to Success will bring vehicles of all makes, models and years onto the airport runway for a day combining automobiles, aviation and community. The car show is being held in conjunction with the airport’s Aviation Awareness Day, giving visitors the chance to walk the runway, see unique vehicles, explore airport hangars and get an up-close look at aircraft.   ON THE SCHEDULE 9 a.m. – Event and vehicle registration begins Noon – Vehicle registration closes and judging begins 3 p.m. – Awards ceremony 3:30 p.m. – Event concludes Early-bird vehicle registration is available through Saturday, August 22, for $25 per vehicle.

More Than a Car Show Genesis Executive Director Clarice Gordon said organizers designed The Runway Classic to be more than a showcase for vehicles. “The Runway Classic was designed to be more than just a car show — it is an opportunity for our community to come together to grow and empower the next generation of leaders to ensure that Southeastern Indiana remains a thriving region full of potential,” Gordon said. She said Genesis staff and board members are excited to create an event centered on community, innovation and opportunity.   Food, Aircraft and a Fundraiser The day will also include food from Beach Blends, Bougie Bites, Dori’s Premium Rolled Ice Cream and Michael Eddy’s Street Cuisine. A split-the-pot drawing is planned as well. Proceeds will benefit Genesis: Pathways to Success and its programs for students and entrepreneurs throughout Southeastern Indiana. The nonprofit works to provide hands-on educational and career-development opportunities aimed at helping students explore interests, develop workforce skills and build career pathways beyond high school. Community Support Honda is the presenting sponsor for the inaugural event. Patterson’s Nursery is the Premier Runway Sponsor, while The Friendship State Bank and Friendship Insurance are sponsoring Best in Show. Performance sponsors include Green Sign Company, SME and The Stitch in Time. Pit Crew sponsors include Batesville Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep, Best Way, Chozen Designs, Delta Faucet Company, German American Bank, Ivy Tech Community Foundation, Ripley County Community Foundation, Sam and Nancy Durham, and The Napoleon State Bank.
