A newly forged statue of author Herman Melville is currently being installed next to the Seamen’s Bethel in New Bedford, the building famously depicted as the “Whaleman’s Chapel” in Melville’s novel Moby-Dick. The City of New Bedford announced that the statue will be formally unveiled during a public ceremony on August 14.
