Nevada Air National Guard Deployed to Support Operation Epic Fury
Reno-based airmen joined U.S. military operations as the Nevada National Guard called the mobilization its largest since the Persian Gulf War.
- On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, airmen with the Nevada Air National Guard's 152nd Airlift Wing deployed to the Middle East to support Operation Epic Fury under U.S. Central Command.
- President Donald Trump estimates the Iran war will last two to three more weeks, while Major General D. Rodger Waters, Nevada Adjutant General, said deployed airmen are "trained, ready and equipped to answer the nation's call."
- Known as the "High Rollers," the 152nd Airlift Wing typically supports rapid global mobility airlift. Captain Emerson Marcus noted this deployment is the largest for the Nevada National Guard since the Persian Gulf War, when more than 300 were deployed.
- Families said goodbye Tuesday as officials declined to disclose exact troop numbers citing operational security. About eight percent of the Guard's personnel are involved in the mission, scheduled to last three months.
- Waters said the unit was "asked to depart in five to seven days." The airmen will make one undisclosed stop in the United States before heading to Europe to support U.S. Central Command operations.
