Scooby-Doo: Origins Wraps Production with New Look at Our Hero Pup
The live-action series reimagines the teen sleuths and their dog, with a real Great Dane playing Scooby-Doo.
- On Sunday, Netflix announced that the live-action prequel Scooby-Doo: Origins has officially wrapped production, with the series scheduled for a global release in 2027.
- Filmed in Atlanta, the production made a creative choice to cast a real Great Dane as the titular character, marking the first time the franchise departed from traditional CGI.
- Showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg lead the project, which stars Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones.
- The sprawling ensemble cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser, Cathy Moriarty, and Andre Benjamin, expanding the live-action reimagining of characters created by Hanna-Barbera in 1969.
- Executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Toby Haynes oversee the series, which follows the mystery-solving group during a final summer camp session that threatens to expose their secrets.
