Iranians Abroad Lose Contact With Loved Ones Amid Dayslong Digital Blackout
With Iran currently experiencing a dayslong digital blackout, RFE/RL's Radio Farda has been in touch with Iranians outside the country who can't reach their families because of the shutdown back home. For safety reasons, some of those who responded asked to remain anonymous.
Daily communication has come to a standstill. The severing of connections portends the use of harsh measures, says an Iranian man who fled the regime.
Two weeks after the start of the demonstrations, the regime is rejecting Iran. It is cutting the Internet and telephone connections. Meanwhile, security forces are allegedly acting harshly against the protesters.
