Six Knesset members from the coalition approached Netanyahu ahead of his trip to Washington, demanding a complete defeat of Hamas and full Israeli control of the Gaza Strip, and opposed the rule of external forces in the Strip.
Ahead of planned talks on a Washington-backed ceasefire proposal, both Hamas and Israel have made their positions clear, with Hamas suggesting it is open to an agreement while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said there will be “no Hamas” in the post-war Gaza Strip.
