The conference was organized by Freedom Party lawmaker Harald Vilimsky, a party that was led by former Nazis in the postwar period. In 2000, Israel recalled its ambassador after the party joined the Austrian government
Far-right parties from European countries participated in the conference, and MK Ariel Kellner (Likud) also spoke. The Austrian Freedom Party is one of the last two far-right parties that Israel has not officially lifted the boycott from, alongside the Alternative for Germany.
