Palestinians Fear Israel West Bank Land Rule Change Will Establish Annexation
New Israeli policies ease land sales to Israeli Jews and transfer permit authority in key West Bank sites, intensifying concerns of de facto annexation by Palestinians.
- On Sunday, Israel's security cabinet approved measures changing the West Bank's legal status and forwarded legislation to the Israeli Knesset for votes.
- Since October 7, 2023, annexationist leaders have accelerated this agenda, with Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich personally drafting decisions and fast-tracking E1 project and 3,400 homes.
- Revoking a Jordanian-era property restriction, the measures allow direct Palestinian property purchases, assign building permits to the Israeli Civil Administration, and transfer control of 13 Palestinian historic sites.
- The Palestinian Authority condemned the decisions as null and void and warned it could become insolvent within months, jeopardizing services for 150,000 employees, while eight Arab and Islamic countries condemned the cabinet's actions on Monday.
- If the annexationists' momentum is not checked soon, it will raise unrest odds, require sustained IDF mobilizations, deepen diplomatic isolation, and Ramadan next week heightens flashpoint risks.

The Israelis are Stealthily Annexing the Whole West Bank under Cover of . . . Iran
by Tamer Ajrami ( Middle East Monitor ) – At a time when Israel and the United States are preparing to launch strikes on Iran (which may be wide strikes), we notice that Israel is taking very dangerous steps in the West Bank. This “distraction” and “blackout” give Israel a greater chance to move without pressure or…
Israel just started legalizing its annexation of the West Bank. Here’s what that means.
This story originally appeared in Mondoweiss on Feb. 11, 2026. It is shared here with permission. Israel just erased Palestinian existence from the West Bank by law, and it’s not an overstatement. It has so far been commonplace to say that Israel’s annexation of the West Bank exists in all but name, since a state of de facto annexation was being established on the ground even though the West Bank was still regarded as legally separate. That cha…
Palestinians fear Israel West Bank land rule change will establish annexation
Israeli government moves to change rules around land registration in the West Bank, making it easier for Israeli Jews to buy property in the illegally occupied territory, are raising alarm among Palestinians, fearful that the new rules will establish de facto Israeli annexation.
The change of laws to facilitate the acquisition of land by Israeli authorities and private individuals will further strengthen the control and integration of the occupied West Bank into Israel, which would violate the occupation law.
