NEET Paper Leak 2026: How WhatsApp ‘Watch’ Message, Mygate App Helped CBI Crack Case
The CBI says the leak moved through Telegram and WhatsApp, and charges 13 accused after forensic checks linked seized devices to the exam paper.
- The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a chargesheet on Friday naming 13 individuals, including three National Testing Agency subject experts, alleging they leaked the NEET-UG 2026 question paper through an extensive digital conspiracy.
- Subject experts allegedly misused their authorized access within the NTA's 'confidential section' during translation work, exploiting a security gap: they were not frisked while entering or exiting the facility.
- Leaked questions were converted into PDF files and circulated via Telegram, with Gurugram-based Yash Yadav allegedly receiving the material from Nashik-based Shubham Khairnar in exchange for Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.
- Coaching sessions held at Siddhivinayak Hospital in Latur allegedly used the leaked material, while digital evidence and Rs 5 lakh recovered from Dr. Manoj Bhagwanrao Shirure's family corroborated the alleged commercial arrangement.
- The case is scheduled for hearing before Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on August 10, with charges filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
