Gov. McMaster Deploys South Carolina Team to Help with Texas Flood Response
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, JUL 7 – Nebraska Task Force One, including two canine teams, will assist San Antonio flood rescue efforts after more than 90 deaths and missing persons, officials said.
- Nebraska Task Force One, consisting of 45 members including Lincoln Fire and Rescue, is deploying to Texas to assist with flood rescue efforts and will arrive Tuesday morning in San Antonio.
- The deployment comes in response to a state aid request made under the mutual assistance agreement following flash floods that have caused more than 100 fatalities and left many people missing in central Texas.
- The task force, which rotates on-call members trained for disaster response nationwide, will work alongside other teams including Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers and Colorado responders preparing to assist.
- Ashley Engler, Task Force Leader, stated, "What's happening down in Texas is devastating," and as of Monday, 41 miles of ravine still need to be searched for victims.
- The deployment aims to expedite search and rescue amid ongoing recovery, reflecting continued serious impacts of the flooding and officials’ commitments to support affected Texas communities.
