Nearly 30 years later, the killing of Dena Marie Anderson remains a mystery
Authorities say the case remains active, with no suspect ruled out and her cause of death still unreleased after significant decomposition.
Authorities continue to investigate the cold case of Dena Anderson, which was reopened in 2012 and remains an active investigation today seeking justice for the 34-year-old.
Anderson disappeared from her Big Lake Township home on November 27, 1996, after being last seen at the Broadway Bar and Pizza in Elk River with her "boyfriend."
A passing motorist found her purse along Interstate 35 north of Pine City, and her body was discovered nearly six months later in Mission Creek Township near Highway 61.
The Ramsey County medical examiner never released an autopsy report, leaving the cause of death undetermined due to significant decomposition of her remains.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the BCA Tip Line, as no one has been ruled out as a suspect in the ongoing investigation.
