Fort Lauderdale Police Consult Psychic Profilers in Sophie Reeder Case
Police have paid one psychic $1,500 and consulted another as they seek new leads in the nine-year-old disappearance.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has begun consulting two psychic profilers to investigate the 2017 disappearance of Patrick Reeder's daughter, Sophie Reeder, marking a rare step for the department in an ongoing criminal case.
While traditional leads in the case have run dry, the department stated it is willing to try unique approaches to uncover new information regarding Sophie's disappearance.
One psychic, Alejandra Taborn, received $1,500 for a 90-day consulting period, including a 90-minute virtual introductory meeting where she shared impressions with detectives, according to police.
Reeder and sister Kirsten Milhorn remain open to the process despite doubts, while skeptic Benjamin Radford argues such consulting wastes police resources and exploits grieving families.
Detectives previously identified Leonard Jennings as a person of interest, though he is not a suspect, as the case remains a mystery despite national attention.
