B.C. Leaders’ Debate Scheduled on Oct. 14, 10 Days Before Provincial Election
The debate will feature David Eby, Lorne Doerkson and Emily Lowan as parties set out their tax and health care pitches.
A broadcast consortium of CBC, Global, and CTV scheduled the only televised leaders' debate for October 14, featuring NDP Leader David Eby, Conservative interim leader Lorne Doerkson, and Greens Leader Emily Lowan.
OneBC candidate Brent Chapman withdrew from the Surrey South race, citing the "strains of the last few months," following former Conservative leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay's resignation and a caucus revolt.
Eby proposed an income tax bracket for those earning more than $1 million, with the New Democrats saying 96 per cent of residents would remain unaffected and it's "the right thing."
Dallas Brodie of OneBC and Elenore Sturko of CentreBC are excluded from the debate, as OneBC lacked the two members required for official status when the election was called.
Voters head to the polls on October 24 across 93 provincial ridings, with the Conservatives fielding candidates in all ridings, the NDP in 92, and the Greens in 73.
