NDLEA Rearrests 83-Year-Old Woman Over Drugs
NDLEA said officers found methamphetamine and Colorado hidden around her waist after intelligence linked her to a drug joint.
- On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, NDLEA operatives rearrested 83-year-old Uloma Uchechi Sunday at her residence in Ite-Uzo, Umuaguma, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State with methamphetamine and Colorado concealed around her waist.
- Following a May 17, 2025, arrest at the same address, Sunday and her 32-year-old daughter, Chisom Uchechi, were previously convicted for drug offenses and fined N200,000 each.
- According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, Sunday allegedly operated a drug joint patronized by criminal elements terrorizing the community, with agents finding drugs tied around her waist in a wrapper.
- This arrest coincided with widespread NDLEA operations across Lagos, Kaduna, and Kano states, where the agency reported major drug seizures as part of its nationwide enforcement campaign.
- Commending officers for their "professionalism and intelligence-driven approach," NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa , urged personnel to sustain their drug control efforts nationwide.
