NDLEA Arrests Newlywed With 72 Wraps Of Cocaine At Enugu Airport

- On Thursday, September 25, 2026, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency operatives arrested 25-year-old businessman Lovely Chukwulobelu at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, alleging he ingested 72 wraps of cocaine before attempting to board a flight to Portugal.
- Chukwulobelu, who previously operated a car decoration business at Trade Fair Complex in Ojo, Lagos, returned to Nigeria for his wedding on September 13, 2026, and told investigators he resorted to trafficking to offset wedding expenses.
- Separately, NDLEA officers recovered 2.55 million pills of opioids at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, containing Tramaking and Royal Tapentadol imported from India and Bangladesh.
- Across other states, officers detained two Togolese nationals in Oyo State with 305.6kg of cannabis and arrested five suspects at the Seme border with 420 cartons of nitrous oxide, while destroying two cannabis farms in Edo State.
- Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa , NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commended officers involved in the operations as agency commands continued their War Against Drug Abuse sensitization activities throughout the week.
