NDLEA arrests Chinese grandma with large consignment of illicit drugs
NDLEA said the suspect arrived from Thailand via Dubai and allegedly tried to smuggle 31 kilograms of Canadian Loud into Nigeria.
- On May 17, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency operatives arrested Ting Hung Kiong, a 63-year-old Chinese woman, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport , Lagos, for allegedly attempting to smuggle 31 kilograms of Canadian Loud into Nigeria.
- Following this arrest, officers intercepted 1,825,710 tablets of Tapentadol valued at N2.19 billion at the Lagos airport import shed on Friday, May 22, after the consignment arrived from India aboard an Emirates Cargo flight.
- At Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, agents apprehended 29-year-old building engineer Babatunde Prosper Afekhide with 10,280 opioid pills, while operatives at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, arrested Onyeka Valentine Emeka for attempting to smuggle cocaine.
- Raids in Ekiti, Kano, and Edo states yielded 1,116 kilograms of skunk in Ikole-Ekiti, 196,000 pills of Exol-5 in Kano State, and 489 kilograms of skunk recovered from the Igwe community in Edo State.
- NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa commended personnel for their efforts, urging them to maintain operational momentum in enforcement and public sensitisation campaigns through the agency's War Against Drug Abuse initiative nationwide.
