The current President of Burundi and President of the African Union (AU), General Evarist Ndayishimiye, visited Ouagadougou on Monday 20 April to start a "friendship and work" visit, according to the statement of the presidency of Burkina Faso. An important visit, while relations between the AU and Burkina Faso have been very complicated since the coup d'état of October 2022.
On the way to Ouagadougou on Monday, 20 April 2026, the current President of the African Union, Évariste Ndayishimiye, was received at the Palace of Koulouba by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
