Jharkhand Maoist Commander, with ₹30 Lakh Bounty, Killed in Police Encounter in UP's Varanasi

- Acting on an informant's tip-off, police intercepted Ganjhu near Ramnagar; he opened fire, striking the bulletproof jackets of Deputy Superintendent Vipin Rai and Head Constable Nitendra Krishna, both remaining safe.
- Rushed to a hospital after sustaining injuries, Ganjhu was declared dead by doctors, while senior officials arrived at the scene to initiate legal formalities and complete investigations.
- The UP ATS had tracked Ganjhu's movements for some time before the operation, targeting the commander of the banned Jharkhand-based Tritiya Prastuti Committee, a splinter group of the Maoist movement.
