The Dutch energy company ONE-Dyas has received permission to immediately begin drilling for gas near the German North Sea island of Borkum. The competent authority in the German state of Lower Saxony announced this on Monday.
The energy group One-Dyas is allowed to drill a German gas field in the North Sea off Borkum. On Monday, the State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology (LBEG) approved the request for immediate implementation.
For years there has been a dispute as to whether natural gas may be produced in the North Sea off the island of Borkum. Now an authority has taken a decision for the production on German territory.
