The National Theatre’s Hit Musical ‘Pride’ Is Transferring to London’s West End
The musical reunites the film’s creative team and adds an original score as it moves to the 900-seat Bridge Theatre after sold-out runs.
- Following a sold-out run at the National Theatre, the stage adaptation of Pride will transfer to London's Bridge Theatre on November 12. The musical recounts the true story of activists who supported striking miners in 1984.
- Director Matthew Warchus and writer Stephen Beresford reunite for this production, having previously collaborated on the acclaimed 2014 film of the same name. The musical features an original score drawing on protest anthems and the Welsh choral tradition.
- Under new ownership by Trafalgar Entertainment, the 900-seat Bridge Theatre will host the production. Tickets for the initial six-month run go on sale on Wednesday, September 2.
- Warchus expects the move to a larger venue to intensify the production's impact, noting that audience laughter and layered sound design—featuring chapel bells and miners' chants—will benefit from increased capacity.
- Beresford notes the story's focus on human connection, citing the line 'prejudice cannot survive proximity' as the show explores the bond between LGBTQ+ activists and the mining community. Performances begin November 12.
