Universities: Students and Staff Protest in Paris Against "Chronic Underfunding" of Higher Education
This mobilisation takes place as the foundations for university funding, launched by the government from January to the spring, take place in order to arrive at a "shared diagnosis" of the budgetary situation of universities.
At the call of the inter-union, about 100 people gathered in front of the Ministry of Higher Education, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris on Tuesday 10 March. Teachers and students protest against the lack of means of the university.
Trade unions estimate that today at least €8 billion is needed to meet the needs of public higher education in France.
All the trade union organisations representing the 100,000 teachers and researchers are calling for rallies this Tuesday in front of the regional rectorates and at noon in front of their ministry in Paris.
