Nathan Eovaldi is scratched from his start for Rangers against Padres due to knee soreness
MacKenzie Gore will start for the Rangers after Nathan Eovaldi is scratched with left knee soreness.
On Saturday, Texas Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was scratched from his start against the San Diego Padres due to left knee soreness. Left-hander MacKenzie Gore will start in his place.
Gore, 27, enters with a 4-6 record and 4.27 ERA across 15 starts this season. He will work on normal rest following his Monday outing against the Minnesota Twins.
Right-Hander Walker Buehler will start for San Diego, bringing a 4-3 record and 4.14 ERA into his 15th start of the season against the Rangers in Arlington, Texas.
Texas comes off a 9-7 win over San Diego on Friday night. The club faces a demanding stretch of 15 games in 15 days, complicating rotation management in the American League race.
Before the injury, Eovaldi had posted a 6-7 record with a 4.23 ERA through 14 games this season. The Rangers continue their series against the Padres at Globe Life Field.
