When Mexican singer-songwriter Natalia Lafourcade began the creative process for “Cancionera,” her tenth studio album recorded in 2024, she did so as a kind of personal gift to celebrate her 40th birthday. She wanted to be more introspective and nonjudgmental, analyzing her personal and musical journey more as a person who composes and performs popular songs, known as a “cancionera,” than as an artist.
