Nasal Sprays Recalled Nationwide over Contamination Concerns. See Affected Products
MediNatura recalled all lots of ReBoost and ClearLife nasal sprays nationwide due to microbial contamination posing infection risks for immunocompromised users, FDA said.
- On Tuesday, Dec. 16, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration posted that Albuquerque-based MediNatura New Mexico, Inc. expanded a nationwide recall to include all lots of ClearLife Allergy Nasal Spray and ReBoost Nasal Spray.
- Laboratory testing found ReBoost Nasal Spray contained yeast or mold and Achromobacter contamination, while ClearLife Allergy Nasal Spray showed similar microbial contamination; both are homeopathic nasal remedies.
- Product labels show ReBoost in a white-and-yellow carton and ClearLife in a white-and-green carton ; customers are instructed to return in-store purchases or contact recall@medinatura.com for refunds.
- Consumers were urged to discontinue use immediately, as MediNatura New Mexico, Inc. warned of a reasonable probability of life-threatening infections in immunocompromised individuals but noted no injury reports.
- About a week after an initial single-lot ReBoost recall earlier this month, MediNatura said the expansion followed additional internal testing and USA TODAY contacted MediNatura on Wednesday, Dec. 17 and had not received a response.
