NASA, SpaceX target Wednesday departure for Crew-12 from space station
The four astronauts have spent nearly eight months aboard the station and are set to return after Crew-13 arrived last week.
- On Sunday, NASA astronaut Jessica Meir handed command of the International Space Station to Roscosmos cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov. The four members of Crew-12 are now preparing to depart the station as early as Wednesday.
- Crew-12, featuring Meir, Jack Hathaway, Sophie Adenot, and Andrey Fedyaev, launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Feb. 13, 2026. With Crew-13's recent arrival, the departing team has spent the last week transitioning operations to the new crew.
- Describing the crew's farewell, Meir said, "It's a lot of mixed, swirling emotions," as the team shared a group embrace they termed a "space station huggle" before the official command transfer.
- Undocking is scheduled for 1:05 a.m. on Wednesday, allowing for a splashdown return off the coast of California targeting 11:25 a.m. Thursday. SpaceX shifted to West Coast recoveries last year due to safety concerns.
- NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, plus Anil Menon, who arrived in July, remain on the station to support the scheduled scientific agenda alongside Roscosmos colleagues until next spring.
