Naqvi rules out govt early exit, says will complete term
Naqvi said the prime minister will serve the full five-year term and urged a public audit of federal ministries to improve accountability.
On Wednesday in Lahore, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi dismissed speculation about the government's future, asserting that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will complete his full five-year constitutional tenure.
Heightened political speculation followed Naqvi's comments last week, in which he publicly described Pakistan's governance structure as "collapsed" and advocated for creating new administrative provinces.
Defending his remarks, Naqvi argued the "80-year-old" system is broken, claiming that if the prime minister had inherited a better model, he could have moved the country forward "100 times faster."
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif questioned how Naqvi could criticize the current political system after holding a "very powerful position" within that administration for three and a half years.
Naqvi requested an independent audit of all ministries, stating that "the will of the people of Pakistan is supreme" and any administrative reset must follow constitutional methods and legal procedures.
