Quevedo won her first WTA title after rallying from a set down and taking the first five games of the third set, officials said.
- On Monday, Kaitlin Quevedo of Spain won her first career WTA tournament title, defeating Nadia Podoroska of Argentina 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the SP Open final at Sao Paulo, Brazil.
- Podoroska took the opening set by breaking Quevedo's serve twice in the opening three games, but Quevedo dominated the third set after overcoming trouble early in the second.
- Quevedo rallied by winning 62% of her second-serve returns and saving five of nine break points, marking a career milestone following her tour-level debut in January.
- Elsewhere, Leylah Fernandez of Canada earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Kyoka Okamura of Japan, while 5 seed Maja Chwalinska of Poland defeated Rebecca Sramkova of Slovakia.
- Additional opening-round winners included 8 seed Kamilla Rakhimova of Uzbekistan, 3 seed Lanlana Tararudee, and 5 seed Maya Joint of Australia, who advanced past Xinxin Yao of China.
