Myers, Sixers Looking for Collaborative Approach From Next GM to Help Philadelphia Win a Championship
Bob Myers is leading the search for a collaborative replacement as Philadelphia tries to rebound from a second-round exit and stay flexible for the draft.
The Philadelphia 76ers fired general manager Daryl Morey on Tuesday after six seasons, following a second-round playoff sweep by the New York Knicks.
During his tenure, Morey compiled a 270-212 regular-season record but never advanced past the second round, while facing criticism for trading player Jared McCain to Oklahoma City.
Bob Myers, who is overseeing the search, said Thursday he seeks a collaborative leader, noting, "You need good people that are in harmony."
Managing Partner Josh Harris reiterated his commitment to coach Nick Nurse and confirmed the organization's willingness to exceed the luxury tax despite postseason frustration.
Myers hopes to hire a replacement before the June 23 NBA Draft while evaluating whether the roster built around Joel Embiid, Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe can win.
