One year ago today, July 31st, I attended a peaceful protest on Whitehall opposite Downing Street. Simply for peacefully standing in a crowd, I, along with some 120 other protestors, was arrested by the Metropolitan Police. I was then unlawfully detained for 20.5 hours and handcuffed behind my back, which caused me unnecessary physical pain
