Man Who Stabbed Ex to Death Stalked Her Using Tracker in Daughter's Scooter
Police said Muzyka stalked Hoisan with a tracker and threatened her before the killing, which left their three-year-old daughter without a mother.
On Friday, Judge Simon Mayo KC sentenced Yurii Muzyka to life in prison with a minimum term of 30 years for murdering his ex-partner, Halyna Hoisan, at her Greenwich home.
Muzyka, a 'controlling' partner, stalked Hoisan by hiding a tracker in their young daughter's scooter before breaching a non-molestation order she secured just seven days prior to the attack.
Muzyka purchased a knife six hours before the killing and searched for vulnerable chest areas online, then stabbed Hoisan six times while their three-year-old daughter remained in the flat.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Franklin, from Scotland Yard, said the conviction 'highlights the Met's commitment to bringing dangerous men to justice,' while Hoisan's mother, Svitlana, testified the loss caused 'profound impact.'
Judge Mayo described Muzyka's act of photographing Hoisan as she lay dying and filming a 'selfie video' as 'degrading and intrusive,' noting they caused 'incalculable' distress to her family.
