2 Dead, "Numerous" Others Injured After SUV Crashes Into Metro Bus in San Fernando Valley, LAFD Says
Firefighters extricated trapped victims as investigators examined the crash, which left at least two people dead and several others injured, officials said.
On Tuesday, a Ford SUV collided with a Los Angeles Metro bus in Chatsworth, leaving two people dead and eight others injured near West Nordhoff Street and Soto Avenue shortly after 5 p.m.
Firefighters responded to the scene in the San Fernando Valley after the SUV smashed into the bus, with crews working to extricate victims trapped in the wreckage.
Paramedics treated "numerous" injured patients on the sidewalk, while six people were transported to area hospitals and one person was found beneath the vehicle.
The Los Angeles Fire Department deployed an Urban Search and Rescue Team to assist in the complex operation, as footage showed the SUV heavily embedded in the bus near a crosswalk.
Surrounding streets near the intersection remain closed as the investigation continues, with officials still working to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision.
