Movie theaters to screen special presentations of Dolly Parton films in her honor
- On Friday, Aug. 28, AMC Theatres began screening two Dolly Parton films across approximately 200 locations in the United States to honor the late musician, who passed away Tuesday at age 80.
- The retrospective features 1989's Steel Magnolias and 1982's The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, both scheduled through Wednesday, Sept. 2, in participating theaters nationwide.
- Steel Magnolias grossed $86.4M domestic, while The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas opened to $11.8M in 1982. Participating theaters offer daily matinee screenings at AMC Fan Faves value pricing.
