Mourners gather in Beirut to pay respects to Lebanese conservationist who died after Israeli strike
Mona Khalil, who spent more than 20 years protecting sea turtles, died from wounds after an Israeli strike hit her home, mourners said.
Mourners gathered in Beirut to honor a Lebanese conservationist who died after an Israeli strike.
The Lebanese army persuaded the conservationist to evacuate for her safety, and she was the last to leave the area, according to Jomaa.
The conservationist had a hard time in Beirut and longed to return to the south, particularly the Orange House and the beach she protected, Jomaa said.
Jomaa recalled the conservationist's words pointing to places she loved, saying her soul would stay there and indicating, 'This is where you will bury me.
