Motorway Closed After Crash and Car Fire
Police are appealing for dashcam footage as investigators work to establish the circumstances of the crash that killed a 39-year-old man.
A 39-year-old man died late Tuesday following a collision between a car and lorry on the M5 Northbound carriageway between junctions Three and Four, which resulted in a vehicle fire.
West Midlands Fire Service crews from Woodgate Valley, Haden Cross, and Smethwick responded shortly after 9:40 PM, joining West Midlands Police, Ambulance, and National Highways at the scene.
Forensic examinations forced closure of the Northbound carriageway for several hours while emergency crews worked at the scene, with traffic resuming at approximately 8 AM on Wednesday.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is establishing the collision's circumstances, with the lorry driver assisting inquiries. West Midlands Police appeal for dashcam footage, stating, "Anyone with information can contact us on 101, message on Live Chat or email SCIU@westmidlands.police.uk, quoting 5590 of October 6."
West Midlands Police confirmed the victim's family is being supported during this time as investigators continue processing evidence from the scene to determine the collision's exact cause.
