Motorcyclist killed in late Saturday night Lake County crash
- A 39-year-old motorcyclist from Davenport, Florida, died in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 27 in Lake County late Saturday night around 11:20 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
- The crash occurred when the 78-year-old driver of a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, traveling northbound on US 27 near Sawgrass Bay Blvd, failed to observe the motorcycle ahead in the center lane.
- The front of the Mercury Grand Marquis struck the rear of the 2024 Yamaha motorcycle, and then a 2023 Tesla Model Y, also traveling northbound, struck the rear of the Mercury.
- According to the FHP report, the 78-year-old man driving the sedan "failed to observe the motorcycle ahead."
- The motorcyclist was transported to AdventHealth Four Corners ER but was pronounced dead, while the drivers and passengers of the other two vehicles remained on scene, and the crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
