Harley Rider Struck and Killed by Impaired Semi Driver on B.C. Highway, RCMP Say
HIGHWAY 97 NEAR NAVER CREEK ROAD, NORTH OF QUESNEL, BRITISH COLUMBIA, JUL 24 – The tractor-trailer driver was arrested for impaired operation after a collision killed a 42-year-old motorcyclist on Highway 97, police said.
- On July 24, 2025 at 12:34 a.m., a black Kenworth tractor-trailer collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle on Highway 97 near Naver Creek Road.
- BC Highway Patrol arrested a 38-year-old Aldergrove man at the scene for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
- A 42-year-old Chemainus man riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle was killed in the crash, and Highway 97 was closed 15 kilometres south of Hixon.
- The driving behaviour leading up the collision is very important,` said Corporal Michael McLaughlin of BC Highway Patrol, urging anyone with dash-camera footage to come forward.
- As of 6 a.m., DriveBC reported no detour available and reopening time unknown, advising drivers to find alternate routes ahead of the 8 a.m. update.
