- Cpl. Michael McLaughlin stated, "We're glad no one was hurt, but too many motorcyclists are passing on the right on Highway 1," noting the shoulder contains hazards like sand and shredded tires.
- Highway Patrol released the footage as a warning to motorists tempted to use the shoulder for traffic bypass, emphasizing that officials can and will ticket drivers who pass on the right.
