Woman Missing 24 Years Reunites with Daughter in Emotional North Carolina Courthouse Meeting

On Thursday, Michelle Hundley Smith, missing for more than 24 years, reunited with daughter Amanda Smith at a North Carolina courthouse after being found in February.
Smith disappeared in December 2001 after telling her husband she was shopping for Christmas, though she remained wanted on a November 11, 2001, DWI charge from the Eden Police Department.
An extensive investigation spanned two decades, involving the FBI and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, until detectives made contact with her in February.
Smith appeared before a judge on Thursday, where she received a court-appointed attorney and is scheduled to return to court on April 23 to address the 2001 DWI charge.
Amanda expressed forgiveness, stating, "We only get one life, and I want my mom in it," and added, "Life's too short for me to hold a grudge against her.
