- A new poll released Monday from AAPI Data and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found most AAPI adults say the U.S. is no longer a great country for immigrants.
- Following more than a year of immigration crackdowns, the Trump administration's heightened policies prompted about half of AAPI adults to report they or someone they know faced detention, deportation, or changed routines.
- Khoa Tran, 27, of San Antonio, Texas, began carrying immigration documents after social media posts emphasized legal requirements, with such identification becoming "literally a second form of identification in addition to the driver's license," Tran said.
- Federal courts struck down policies this month that "categorically barred" immigrants from 39 Asian, African, Latin American and Middle Eastern countries from receiving asylum and citizenship decisions.
- Despite these legal setbacks, 73% of AAPI adults say cultural mixing is vital to America's identity, though Soonho Kwon, 30, of La Mirada, California, expresses ambivalence about celebrating the nation's 250th anniversary amid immigration restrictions.
