Until March 2024, in Mexico there were 3,141 people of sexual diversity deprived of their liberty. “I assure you that it is a much larger number and that the majority of LGBTI people do not express it openly out of fear. For fear of violence, fear of exclusion, fear of being targeted, fear of being classified in a single area, fear of losing contact with the family,” said Ari Vera, president of Almas Cautivas A.C.
