Olympics Skiing Halfpipe, Aerials Final Postponed by Heavy Snow
A storm dropped over 6 inches of snow, causing event delays and rescheduling at the 2026 Winter Olympics, with men's aerials moved to Friday, officials said.
- A storm dumping more than a half-foot of snow in Livigno on Feb. 19, 2026, forced postponements at Livigno Snow Park and disrupted the Olympic schedule.
- Earlier in the week, storms had already forced organizers to juggle snowboard slopestyle contests, and an Italian soldier was photographed shoveling snow at Livigno Snow Park after delays.
- The men's halfpipe was supposed to begin Thursday morning but was delayed with a start time to be decided later, and organizers moved men's aerials to Friday.
- Weather forecasts say conditions should improve for Friday and Saturday, while the women's halfpipe qualifying featuring defending champion Eileen Gu remains scheduled for Thursday evening.
- Repeated storms this week have forced organizers to keep reshuffling events, and the compressed calendar leaves the final days of competition dependent on improving weather to complete freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
