More people using AI at work: Gallup
AI adoption is rising fastest in knowledge sectors with 45% of U.S. workers using AI occasionally and 23% using it weekly, Gallup found.
- Gallup's findings show 45 percent of U.S. employees reported using AI to complete tasks, even as fears of job displacement persist across U.S. workplaces.
- Using A.I. to consolidate information and generate ideas is the most common workplace application, while workers also use A.I. for learning, automation, problem identification, and customer interaction.
- Frontline workers use A.I. less, with more than 60 percent of workers in technology and information systems naming chatbots as their primary tool, Gallup reports.
- Usage intensity is increasing, with weekly and daily rates up as employees reporting weekly or daily A.I. use rose to 23 percent and 10 percent, while around 23 percent of surveyed workers remain unclear about company A.I. strategies.
- Adoption coincides with research showing job declines for early-career workers, as Stanford researchers found earlier this year a 13 percent decline for 22- to 25-year-olds in exposed roles.
