More Charges Laid Against Two Men in Extortion Case in Surrey, B.C.
Police say prosecutors approved five more charges each against two men after an extortion-related shooting damaged a home and vehicle.
- On Monday, the BC Prosecution Service approved five additional charges against each of two men in an extortion-related shooting investigation led by the Surrey Police Service.
- The original shooting occurred on April 22, when bullets were fired into an occupied home on 87A Avenue near 134 Street, damaging the residence and vehicle but injuring no one.
- Twenty-Two-Year-Old Damanjeet Singh and 30-year-old Pardaman Singh, both foreign nationals, remain in custody and were originally charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a restricted weapon.
- The younger suspect is expected in court on Tuesday, while the elder appears on June 16 following the SPS Extortion Response Team's investigation.
- As of May 25, the Surrey Police Service reported 112 extortion cases, including 18 incidents with shots fired and two arsons, underscoring the scale of the ongoing crisis.
