Nigeria: Like Uber, Another Global Mobility Company Exits Nigeria
The company said more than 9,000 customers will receive vehicles worth about N35 billion without additional payment as it exits the market.
- On Thursday, mobility fintech Moove announced it is ending operations in Nigeria after six years, marking a strategic shift for the company founded in Lagos.
- The decision follows Uber's recent exit from Nigeria after 12 years, a development that pressured Moove's original mobility financing model used to support gig drivers.
- Since its 2020 launch by co-founders Ladi Delano and Jide Odunsi, more than 9,000 customers used Moove's financing products in Nigeria, generating approximately N57 billion in revenue.
- Effective October 1, 2026, existing customers will receive full ownership of eligible vehicles "worth approximately N35 billion" without further payments to the company.
- While withdrawing from Nigeria, Moove continues expanding globally, now operating across 29 cities and intending to build a lasting international success story rooted in its Lagos origins.
