Moorhead's Zak Walker commits to Gophers football
Walker becomes the fourth Moorhead player in the 2027 class to commit to Minnesota after a season with 597 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
On Wednesday morning, Moorhead High cornerback Zak Walker announced his commitment to the University of Minnesota, becoming the fourth Spuds player to join the Gophers' 2027 recruiting class.
The Gophers' 2027 class now includes four players from one Minnesota high school, with Walker joining quarterback Jett Feeney, wide receiver David Mack, and running back Taye Reich after Minnesota staff attended a Spuds practice when they were freshmen.
Listed at 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, Walker is a dynamic track athlete who recorded 37 tackles as a defensive back last season, alongside 597 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 33 receptions.
Moorhead head coach Kevin Feeney praised Walker's development, saying "He plays with a lot of confidence and understands that next-play mentality," and that his work ethic will "bode well for him at the next level."
Walker is the 15th overall recruit committed to Minnesota's 2027 class, continuing head coach P.J. Fleck's trend of securing early-cycle commitments; the program signed 31 players to last year's class.
