Montreal Victoire visit city hall to sign golden book after Walter Cup victory
The first Canadian PWHL champions were welcomed by city leaders after a 4-0 series-clinching win over the Ottawa Charge.
- On Tuesday, Montreal Victoire captain Marie-Philip Poulin and teammates visited Montreal City Hall to sign the Golden Book, welcomed by Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada and Laval Mayor Stéphane Boyer, both wearing Victoire jerseys.
- The Victoire defeated the Ottawa Charge 4-0 in Game 4 last week at Canadian Tire Centre, becoming the first Canadian team in the Professional Women's Hockey League's three-year history to win the Walter Cup.
- After nearly 10 months of play, the Victoire finished atop the standings this season and reached the playoffs for the third consecutive year, with coach Kori Cheverie and Poulin addressing the crowd before the signing ceremony.
- Martinez Ferrada told the team: "When young girls watch you play, they don't just see hockey players. They see role models — strong, disciplined, ambitious women — and, above all, endless possibilities." Poulin said she hopes to see fans on Saturday "so we can all enjoy this together."
- The team will take to downtown streets on Saturday for a short parade and celebration at Quartier des Spectacles, continuing their victory commemoration after Tuesday's city hall ceremony.
