Montreal police arrest a suspect after alleged attack on Jewish father in a park.
A 24-year-old man was arrested after assaulting a Jewish father in front of his children in a Montreal park, with the attack partially captured on video sparking public condemnation.
- On Aug. 11, 2025, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal arrested a 24-year-old suspect following an investigation by the North Regional Investigation Section.
- Last Friday, a 32-year-old Orthodox Jewish father was attacked at Dickie Moore Park around 2:20 p.m. while with his three daughters, and a video circulated online.
- A witness video shows the suspect crouching and punching the victim about five or six times after spraying him at the park's splash pad area.
- The Crown objected to his release, and he is scheduled to return Wednesday for a bail hearing, with the file to be submitted to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions.
- The Federation CJA described the attack as "shocking and unprovoked" and urged concrete steps to protect the community, following Emanuel's statement that it was "a public act of antisemitic humiliation.
